Installation Guide for CSI 117 Applications

This guide is for computers with MS Windows, Vista or Win 7.

Other versions of Windows may not function as desired.

All installations are done at the student’s own risk, the college or representatives of the college assume or imply no responsibility for personally owned computers.

Please follow these steps:

1.       Install the jdk version for the computer that matches the computer architecture. Jdk-7-windows-i586 is for 32 bit systems and the one ending in x64 for 64 bit systems. If you are not sure of your system, please start with the 64 version. If your system will not let you install it, then you can use the 32 bit version. Many software packages use the java development kit, so your system should also alert you if it is already installed.

2.       Double click the Argo icon to install it.

3.       Double click the jgrasp icon to install it.

4.       Extract the Alice 2.2 zipped files to your C: drive, in a folder that you will be able to find later such as C:\Alice.

5.       Double click the file called Alice.exe to start the program. There is no installation for Alice, it runs as a live application.

If accessing these files through the web, please click on the link below and save the compressed archive. Extract the files to a folder and then follow the directions above.  The download should take 3-5 minutes depending on the speed of your network.
